Thanks for your support on Season Opening!

I am truly overwhelmed by the support given by all of you to my very first effort in writing a blog last week. Both the number of visitors to the blog and the level of response and feedback from all of you have been massive. I feel very encouraged by it. Although I cannot reply individually to you all, I will try to cover as many of the points you've raised as possible in this and future blog entries.

Among the opinions that I've received in the past few days, a significant portion of them have given credits and positive comments to our betting products and services, while some others also raised the ways for further improvement, including a call for the Treble pool to be restored. Let me update you on this. The Club is actually revisiting all its betting pools at the moment and our study will be completed in October. The opinions of our racing customers will certainly be a key consideration, so I hope all of you will continue contributing your views.

I also want to thank the 63,000 and more people who gave us their support by joining our season opening race meeting last Sunday. It ended up being the highest turnout for a season-opening meeting in the past decade. I was especially delighted to learn that almost 50,000 people had entered the course well before the first race. We believe many people came earlier than usual to see the Trainers' Ride for Charity.

For me, I was not only thrilled by the trainers' fighting spirit, but also encouraged by the way that the race showed everyone the sporting side of racing, and the sportsmanship of those who engage in it.

I was glad to see the racecard last Sunday being so competitive and I'm rather impressed by the outstanding performance of John Size's debutant Dao Dao in Race 9. Having just missed victory in his first start in Hong Kong by finishing a close second, I believe this horse will surely be worth following in future.

Our latest measure to allowing racehorse owners' children to enter the racecourse also earned positive response from our Owners. I've also received a lot of positive comments from local racing fans in my blog, who are likewise in support of bringing children into the racecourse to enjoy the sport of racing. Nevertheless, I welcome more views and opinions from you on this issue.

Many of you may be curious to know what I do after my busy work schedule every day. Actually, I am no different from most Hong Kong people as the thing I most enjoy after a hard day's work is good food. Chinese food, in particular Shanghai and Sichuan cuisine, has always been my favourite. And if you want to ask me which Shanghainese restaurant I rate as the best in the town, I would direct you to the one in Man Yee Building in Central. I'm sure you'll find it a place to be worth visiting.
